Born in 1974 and raised mostly in Louisiana. In his younger days he enjoyed watching his favorite cartoon Speed Racer and playing in the canal across the street with his younger brother. Steve grew up always knowing and believing in Jesus Christ, but it was in college when his faith in God began to really deepen. He attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston and was involved in the Wesley Foundation campus ministry. This was a time when his faith really became his own.

He remembers the first time he saw his future wife walk through the doors of the Wesley Foundation. After many attempts of starting a dating relationship, Jill finally said “yes”. They were married in 1996 and now have two wonderful boys.

Steve started out teaching 7th grade math at the junior high. During this same time he was also playing bass guitar in a new contemporary worship service that was just starting out. He began volunteering to help with the media at that church. This eventually evolved into a part time position and then full time. He served as the Media Director for 10 years helping communicate who God is through sound, lights, graphics, and video.

Then while jogging one morning he heard God calling him to be a pastor, preacher, and teacher in the United Methodist Church. Supported by his wife, kids, and his church he began the journey that has led him to be the co-pastor here at St. Paul UMC while attending Duke to get his Master of Divinity Degree.
